“Here Be Giants”, Ventnor Fringe, 2023
The three Island storytellers, Holly Medland, Monty (Tony) Hirst and Sue Bailey, who together comprise TisTales, tell larger than life stories about larger than life characters.
Trolls, ogres, giants and gargantuan monsters – all have a nightmarish place in the human psyche. Come and hear how the mighty are overcome in tales of foolishness and bravery, from near and far flung lands.
The storytelling trio’s success at last year’s Fringe helped kick start the Isle of Wight’s very own Somewhen Storytelling Festival, which took place in June this year.
Don’t miss their fresh and enthusiastic renditions of these tales. The stories may have been first told once upon a somewhenever, somewherever, a very long time ago… but be assured, these tales will stay with you long after the last word is spoken.

Ventnor Fringe 2022: Island Tales
Following several shows as “Three Island Storytellers”, Holly Medland, Tony “Monty” Hirst and Sue Bailey are coming to Ventnor Fringe for a first performance in their new guise of ‘Tis Tales.
Drawing on a wide range range of traditional stories, fabulous folk tales, magical myths, lost legends, and possibly even a few lies, the performance is sure to feature some stories you may recall as having heard somewhere before, once upon a time, and others that will surely be new to you.
So leave the box sets behind, unsubscribe from the podcasts, turn off the radio, forego the theatre, and instead come and enjoy a programme of tales told the traditional way.
